Microsoft Surface Revealed

Microsoft showed off their surface tablet PC yesterday, and it has everyone talking. I have never really been a fan of tablets in general because they feel limited to me, but this is pretty different. It is basically a Windows PC in a tablet form factor, so it runs all of your normal Windows apps. It also has all of the connectivity people have come to expect with a laptop, such as USB, HDMI, and Display Port. It also has one of the most ingeniously designed “cases” of any tablet with a built in kickstand and a detachable cover that doubles as a full multi-touch keyboard and touchpad. There are two versions of the tablet, one that runs on an Nvidia ARM processor, and one that runs on an Intel i5 processor. The i5 version of the table is called the Surface Pro, and I could see it replacing my laptop easily.

Check out the video below to view the full announcement and demonstration Microsoft gave yesterday. If you want to skip to the good stuff, Surface makes its appearance at around the 9 minute and 30 second mark. If it lives up to the presentation, it might just be better then the iPad.

Battlefield 3 Videos: Kit Switch

I have been watching this series of videos on YouTube called Kit Switch. These videos give you a nice breakdown of the various weapons in Battlefield 3, and when one weapon might be better then another. Since the weapon pages on Battlelog don’t give any damage statistics, and since damage drops and different rates over distances, it can sometimes be hard to compare one weapon to another. These Kit Switch videos can be helpful at knowing what the best situation is for each weapon. I found the comparison between the shotguns and ammo types particularly interesting. You can see some of the videos below. Be sure to subscribe to the channel if you find them interesting.

G4 TV’s Top 100 Games of All Time

So G4 recently came out with their Top 100 Games list. I don’t really know why people feel the need to make these lists. These lists are completely subjective and everyone uses different criteria. Some lists look at the most influential, most fun in their day, most fun to play even now, or some strange combination of the three. However, no matter what method they use, its going to spark tons of arguments.

Reading the comments on some of these entries was hilarious, with people saying G4 as lost credibility and that they are never going to view the site again. Those people need to grow up and realize that no two people are going to make the same list. Hell, some of my favorite games (such as System Shock 2 and Tribes) didn’t even make the cut. Still, here are some of my personal favorites that I was happy to see make the list:
