SOMA Release Date Almost Here

friend

There are a bunch of great games coming out soon, however the one I am probably most looking forward to is SOMA. Its the next horror game from indie studio Frictional Games, creators of Penumbra and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I absolutely love horror games, and in my opinion the developers over at Frictional Games are the kings of the genre. Take a look at 12 minutes of uncut gameplay footage:

Here are three quick bits of trivia about the video:

  • When the video starts we are about 1 hour into the game.
  • The protagonist is not an amnesiac. He has an established past, knows who he is, but isn’t at all sure about the situation he’s in.
  • There are lots more things to explore in this level than what’s shown in the video. For instance, you can avoid the robot attack completely by acting differently.

SOMA will be released on September 22nd.

The Witcher Retrospective

witcher_2

So I am finally getting around to checking out The Witcher 3 (despite pre-ordering it over a year before it released). It has been long enough since I played the last two games that I barely remember what happened in the story. I decided to visit to YouTube to find a summary of the previous two games. After a bit of searching. these two videos are by far the best that I have come across. They are a bit long since they cover all the major events of the previous two games, but now I feel fully prepared going into Witcher 3. By the way, if you have yet to play the first two games I highly recommend them. Well, maybe not the first one anymore since I don’t think it holds up as well. However Witcher 2 is still excellent and worth your time.

Natural Selection 2: Derelict Update

FeatureImageSmall-596x335

While Unknown Worlds has moved on from Natural Selection 2 development to work on Subnautica, the NS2 community development team is still cranking out updates on a somewhat regular basis. Instead of just balance and maintenance fixes, this latest update contains a new free map called “Derelict”.

Within the theme of the rest of the game, DERELICT takes you to an abandoned base on a remote planet where the world has overgrown and transformed the base into a truly beautiful and yet dark mesh of organic life and man made devices. Map developer and CDT member Loki has worked very hard to create this incredible map that not only plays well, but also looks amazing at the same time! We hope you enjoy this newest addition to the game and know this is only the beginning

Resident Evil 2 Remake Approved

This is pretty exciting news for me. I have always been a big fan of the original Resident Evil games (not so much the new ones). The Gamecube remake of Resident Evil 1 was amazing. However, I never understood why they felt the need to “remaster” the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 1 last year when the Gamecube version still holds up in my opinion.

Now it looks like they are finally going to give the same treatment to Resident Evil 2!

It probably wont be around until late next year at the earliest. But I still need to finish Code Veronica HD, and we have the Resident Evil 0 HD release to look forward to as well.
