Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles

RvB_general_poster.jpg

Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles, often abbreviated as RvB, is a machinima comic science fiction video series created by Rooster Teeth Productions and distributed primarily through the Internet and DVD. The series chronicles the story of two opposing teams of soldiers fighting a civil war in the middle of a desolate box canyon (Blood Gulch), in a parody of first-person shooter (FPS) games, military life, and science fiction films.

Red vs. Blue centers on the Red and Blue Teams, two groups of soldiers engaged in a civil war. Each team occupies a small base in a box canyon known as Blood Gulch. According to Simmons (Gustavo Sorola), one of the Red Team soldiers, each team’s base exists only in response to the other team’s base. Although both teams generally dislike each other and have standing orders to defeat their opponents and capture their flag, neither team’s soldiers are usually motivated to fight each other- if they are otherwise, neither are efficient. Teammates have an array of eccentric personalities and often create more problems for each other than for their enemies. The main Red vs. Blue storyline spans five seasons.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor Flashbacks

BasestarUnderAttack.jpg

The SCI FI Channel has already aired the first two flashbacks for the upcoming two-hour episode “Razor”. Written by Michael Taylor and directed by Wayne Rose and Felix Alcala, these intense, roughly two-minute segments tell the story of young William Adama’s rookie Viper mission during the first Cylon war. In addition to fighting for his very survival against relentless Cylon centurions, Adama makes a terrifying discovery that will come back 40 years later to threaten him, the crew of the Pegasus and the survival of the human race. The webisodes can be viewed through the official SciFi.com or on the screen during airings of Flash Gordon every Friday. They will continue airing new flashbacks every week through November 16th. Razor premiers November 24th at 9/8C.

In addition to the upcoming Razor episode, Battlestar fans also have an Xbox Live Arcade game to look forward to. Published by Sierra and developed by Auran, the space combat game looks pretty fun. Some gameplay videos were recently released, which you can view here.

RvB Season 4

So, I got season 4 of Red vs Blue on DVD. The episodes just keep getting better. I wish this season was a little bit longer, but the fact that this season is so good makes up for the shortness. I feel like watching all 4 seasons in a row now. If you have never watched the show before (or watched only part of it), you are missing out on an extremely funny show. If you missed seasons 1-4, you can watch them here.
