PS3 pre-owned games banned!

Some more craziness from Sony. I am sure this news won’t make anyone happy. Also, I hear this means no rentals as well. So have fun paying $60 on games that you can’t rent to try out, and then can’t sell if you don’t like it. Sony keeps making it easier and easier to pass on the PS3.

Wednesday 24 May 2006
High street games shops have been told by Sony that there will be no PS3 pre-owned sections in their stores as it will be illegal for customers to sell any next-gen PlayStation games that they’ve bought, retail sources have revealed to GamesRadar.

It seems that Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won’t own the PS3 titles that they’ve paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property – meaning that the disc won’t be the customer’s to sell.

We assume that the thinking behind this move will ultimately be to stop PS3 games being resold several times – which currently snatches potential sales away from Sony – and to counter the impression in consumers’ minds that games are only really worth their pre-owned price and are not worth buying new.

When we contacted Sony, it issued us with the following statement: “We have made all of the official announcements at E3 and cannot make any further comments at this time. We will be announcing more news running up to PlayStation 3’s launch.”

X-Men: The Last Stand – Stay for the credits

May 22, 2006 – You’re planning to see X-Men: The Last Stand this weekend, right? We expect most of you are. That being the case, apart from our regular reporting on the movie, IGN FilmForce now asks you to do one important thing. If you’re an X-Men fan, you’ll regret it if you don’t! At the theater this weekend, when the credits roll, when the audiences begins to filter out of the exits… keep your seat. And then, perhaps, share this little secret with a few of your friends: the movie isn’t over.

We don’t want to spoil anything for you, but we want you to know that the scene that follows isn’t your typical post-credits tack-on. It’s a coda for one of the main characters. The scene is maybe 30 seconds in length, but it’s enough. And it will surely be one of the more talked moments in the fan community.

Think you know what this scene is? Guess all you want, but chances are that you won’t see it coming.

Major mutant war happens this Friday! Wolverine yells, “Hold the line!” – that stand’s not easy. All you have to do is hold on through the end credits – that’s much easier. You don’t want miss the coda!

Futuristic Sex Robotz

Founded by Coaxke and PC Speaker during a Keystone Ice induced drunken haze in late 2004, Futuristic Sex Robotz is the one and only Gangster Nerd Rap group. Futuristic Sex Robotz dishes out the cold, hard truth with skill and creativity unlike anything the internet has seen before.

Available for download at no charge, “Hotel Coral Essex” is Futuristic Sex Robotz’s full-length Gangster Nerd Rap masterpiece. Covering topics such as LiveJournal, World of Warcraft, Lieutenant Commander Data, and Trusted Computing, respect is given to those who are deserving, while mercy is denied from those who offend our ears or threaten our technological freedom.

There is only Futuristic Sex Robotz. Accept no substitute.

Coaxke and PC Speaker were recently on a UK radio station where they played their single about the movie “Snakes on a Plane”. It was pretty good, and you can check it out here.

They also create a Halo 2 rap a while back. If you have not seen it yet, you can watch it below.

Need Video Ideas

So, after posting my Tribes video (well actually ever since GT added the new User Movies tab), I have wanted to make a new video. The problem is that I have no idea what to film and could use some ideas. I am not limiting myself to any specific type of video. For a while I was thinking of creating a sort of Tribes video tutorial to teach new players the basics of Tribes, but decided it would mostly be a waste of time since there are not many new Tribes players. I was also going to make a gameplay video of Tribes: Vengeance like the one I have for Tribes 1 & 2, but I am having some technical problems with demo playback that I am not sure I will be able to fix. If I can fix it then I will make a Vengeance video. But I still need ideas of other videos I can make. If you have any ideas or want to help out, please let me know. Just remember, games with demo recording are easiest to make things like gameplay videos with since you can go back and record after you are done playing.

Tribes Video

So, I decided to figure out how to create flash video files and then post them. Looks like it worked out pretty well. I am sure I will make use of this a lot in the future. For now, check out the first test file. It is a short Tribes video to try to get my friends interested in the game. Most of the footage was taken during one afternoon of playing.
