Yeah, I know it is only October. Here are my top 3 albums of the year, in no particular order:
BT – ‘A Song Across Wires’
BT is a Grammy-nominated American music producer, composer, audio technician, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Mixmag writes, “As the follow up to his Grammy-nominated ‘These Hopeful Machines’, expectations are bound to be high for BT’s ninth album. But considering he’s composed film scores for The Fast And The Furious and the Oscar-winning Monster, produced for Sting, Bowie and Madonna and worked with Tori Amos, it’s no surprise that he lives up to them. An innovative mix of trance, electro and progressive, with a just a touch of dubstep (which shouldn’t annoy the purists too much), ‘A Song Across Wires’ does just what he intended it to do: embrace dance’s new mainstream popularity. From ‘Letting Go’ to ‘Lifeline’ it’s a steady stream of uplifting tracks and emotive vocals – but that’s not to say it’s in any way predictable.”
Camo & Krooked – ‘Zeitgeist’
Camo & Krooked are a Drum & Bass duo from Vienna, Austria. EDMTunes wrote, “Old-school disco fused with energetic DnB and a few carefully placed dubstep movements allows users to enjoy a signature C&K feeling with a new twist. The best part about the whole thing? Each track blends perfectly into the next, making the album-listening experience just that: a true experience from start to finish.”
Feed Me – ‘Calamari Tuesday’
Jonathan Gooch, more commonly known by his stage names Feed Me and Spor, is a drum and bass, dubstep, and electro house producer and DJ. YourEDM writes, “His sound has such a unique personality thanks to his signature blend of energetic electro-house and devastating dubstep; when you hear Feed Me, you know it’s Feed Me. In my mind, what Feed Me did with Calamari Tuesday is akin to what Kendrick Lamar did with his now infamous verse on ‘Control;’ he threw down a gauntlet challenging everyone in the scene to step up their game and get on his level because otherwise he’s going to leave them in the dust when he launches into the stratosphere”
