PlanetSide Sequel in the Works, Vista Patch Incoming

Well, I can certainly say I did not expect this at all. I have always wanted a PlanetSide 2, and it looks like it might actually be happening. SOE recently sent out a mass e-mail to PlanetSide players:

Help Us Design the Next PlanetSide Game

That’s right, you heard what we said! We plan to expand the PlanetSide® universe with another game and we need your help with the design. After all, who knows the game better than you, our customers, the people who actually play it! Don’t worry about the original PlanetSide, it isn’t going anywhere.

We want to hear your opinion and to do so we have put together a short survey. The information you provide will play a critical role into helping guide the development and direction of the next hit Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter. As a loyal player and experienced shooter fan, we value your input and look forward to hearing what you have to say.

The e-mail linked to a survey that asked a variety of questions such as what you think the most important aspects of PlanetSide are, what games you are currently playing, and your opinions on micro-transactions.

In other PS news, PlanetSide Universe contacted SOE for comment on the e-mail. They would not give any PS2 details, but they did let slip that a new patch is coming. The patch will make PS fully Vista compliant along with other bug fixes and anti-hacking features. It was only a few months ago when I posted that I did not expect PS to be fixed. This is one time when I am glad to be wrong. They also said that “We have big things planned in the next 12 months. We’re working on something new that’s really cool.”

It looks like I might actually have to subscribe later once everything is working.
