Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Footage

Some footage is coming out of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. I have to say it is pretty disappointing. The weapon models and animations are extremely poor. In fact, the whole presentation of the game does not look that great. As one of my friends said, it looks like a “third party mod that 2 guys worked on over the weekend”. It really does not seem to live up to the quality that we are used to from Valve games, but then again it is not Valve that is making it. I really hope they step in and tell them to fix it up a lot before they release it. We might have another Condition Zero on our hands here.

Escape From City 17 Part 2

Remember that really awesome fan made Half Life 2 video Escape From City 17? Yeah, I forgot about it too. Go ahead and watch it over again, because the ending is pretty awesome:

A story about the connection that grows between two people during the battle for city 17. Made in the same gritty guerrilla style as the original, it was made on a $250 budget, previously owned/donated software, time, and an HVX200 camera.

Battlefield 3: Caspian Border Multiplayer Gameplay

I already got my pre-order in, but if you have not yet you probably will want to after watching this trailer:

I pre-ordered on Origin since it gets you into the beta next month, but there are a number of different pre-order bonuses available depending on where you buy it:

  • Gamestop is offering the Physical Warfare pack, which unlocks these weapons for use in multiplayer: DAO-12 Shotgun, Flash Suppressor, Type 88 LMG, and Flachette Ammo. In addition, Battlefield 3 Blog reports that PowerUp Rewards members will get a Prima strategy guide for free, as well.
  • Amazon is offering an exclusive “Dog Tag Pack,” for use in multiplayer.
  • Best Buy is offering the “SPECACT Kit,” a package that offers eight multiplayer weapons and uniform skins.
  • EA’s Origin store is offering the Physical Warfare pack, bonus items for Battlefield Play4Free, and access to the Battlefield 3 open beta.

All pre-orders get access to the Back to Karkand expansion for free. Also, keep in mind that the game will not be available on Steam, and that all copies will have to activate on Origin.
