Craig Ferguson interviews Notch

After watching the Minecraft documentary, I think it is safe to say that there is nobody in the gaming business that is more likeable then Markus “Notch” Persson. The guy is just a super humble and nice person, and it seems like his massive amounts of money didn’t change his character at all. So I very much enjoyed this recent interview that Craig Ferguson did with him. Some people were describing it as awkward, but I thought it was pretty hilarious and that Markus did a great job.

Battlefield 4 Uninstalled

I can’t take it anymore. Between the terrible netcode, unstable servers, and client crashes I just cant play anymore of Battlefield 4. What should be an enjoyable game is a frustrating experience of getting screwed over at every turn. The problems are numerous: unloading an entire clip at an enemy and not getting any hits, being shot from behind cover, losing unlocks when servers crash, and losing progress in single player due to client crashes. I am done, have uninstalled, and I wish I could get a refund.

Maybe the game will be fine in a month or two, I really hope so. But I certainly don’t expect any real fixes to the netcode in the short term. I can’t help but feel that this game was rushed out the door in order to beat Call of Duty Ghosts to market. Huh, maybe I should go play that instead.

Top 3 Albums of 2013

albums

Yeah, I know it is only October. Here are my top 3 albums of the year, in no particular order:

BT – ‘A Song Across Wires’

BT is a Grammy-nominated American music producer, composer, audio technician, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Mixmag writes, “As the follow up to his Grammy-nominated ‘These Hopeful Machines’, expectations are bound to be high for BT’s ninth album. But considering he’s composed film scores for The Fast And The Furious and the Oscar-winning Monster, produced for Sting, Bowie and Madonna and worked with Tori Amos, it’s no surprise that he lives up to them. An innovative mix of trance, electro and progressive, with a just a touch of dubstep (which shouldn’t annoy the purists too much), ‘A Song Across Wires’ does just what he intended it to do: embrace dance’s new mainstream popularity. From ‘Letting Go’ to ‘Lifeline’ it’s a steady stream of uplifting tracks and emotive vocals – but that’s not to say it’s in any way predictable.”

Camo & Krooked – ‘Zeitgeist’

Camo & Krooked are a Drum & Bass duo from Vienna, Austria. EDMTunes wrote, “Old-school disco fused with energetic DnB and a few carefully placed dubstep movements allows users to enjoy a signature C&K feeling with a new twist. The best part about the whole thing? Each track blends perfectly into the next, making the album-listening experience just that: a true experience from start to finish.”

Feed Me – ‘Calamari Tuesday’

Jonathan Gooch, more commonly known by his stage names Feed Me and Spor, is a drum and bass, dubstep, and electro house producer and DJ. YourEDM writes, “His sound has such a unique personality thanks to his signature blend of energetic electro-house and devastating dubstep; when you hear Feed Me, you know it’s Feed Me. In my mind, what Feed Me did with Calamari Tuesday is akin to what Kendrick Lamar did with his now infamous verse on ‘Control;’ he threw down a gauntlet challenging everyone in the scene to step up their game and get on his level because otherwise he’s going to leave them in the dust when he launches into the stratosphere”

Battlefield 4 Beta on Xbox 360

vlcsnap-2013-10-05-15h01m27s39

Battlefield 4 Beta footage on Xbox 360. This game looks absolutely terrible on the console. Horrible low resolution texture quality, tons of pop-in, and enough aliasing on everything to give me a minor headache. At least the frame rate seems reasonably stable. Still, avoid at all costs if you can and sick to the PC if you can.

Battlefield 4 Beta Released

bf4 2013-10-01 22-30-59-32

The Battlefield 4 beta is now out for everyone. Since it is a beta, it is a bit buggy and has some performance issues, but I am still finding it a lot of fun. Check out the video below which was recorded as some of my friends and I played for the first time. Hopefully the final release performs a bit better, as I don’t really feel like upgrading my CPU again.

If it looks like fun, you can download the beta here. Then check out this video below while it downloads to learn about what is available in the beta.
