Tron Legacy Teaser

At last the teaser footage for Tron 2, apparently now called Tron Legacy, has been released. I have been waiting to see this movie for ages, as Tron is one of my favorite movies of all time as well as one of the most important films ever in terms of special effects. Amazingly, Tron actually failed to garner a special effects nomination from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. At the time, the academy considered the use of computers in films as “cheating.” If you have never seen the 1982 film, I highly suggest that you check it out. As for what the sequel is about:

Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

That sounds pretty good to me, and the trailer does look great. I love how the visual effects still look true to the original. Hopefully, if we are really lucky, we might also get a sequel to Tron 2.0. That game, along with The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, are easily two of the best movie licensed games ever made.
